Oh, definitely, but the characters in Metropolitan are super rich New Yorkers. I find the film particularly interesting because it's like a window into a world I'll never otherwise see.

Isn't it only Metropolitan, though? Are the characters in Barcelona, The Last Days of Disco and Damsels in Distress wealthy? Not as far as I remember.
I can't remember much about this film except it felt amateurish and I hated it. Well, not everyone comes out the gates a genius (and, judging by his newest film, most don't stay a genius forever, either).
I'd love to see it on Blu Ray from Criterion or someone.
I first heard of them on Viva Variety!, a short-lived variety show starring former members of The State.
DVD showed up in mid '98 in the US. I think I owned a good 100 movies on VHS by then, a lot of them widescreen. Not to mention a good 300 movies taped from TCM. The last time I moved I donated all of them (the legal ones, that is) to the library.
Actually Flowers of Shanghai is quite beautiful. It is a bit of a bore, for sure, but you can actually get through it.
Okay…
I thought I saw your face turning a bit red.
It's just a synonym for Western, no reason to get all worked up over it.
Underground is infinitely better and Mattieu Kassovits went on to direct Gothika.
Ha, Atanarjuat! Remember when that was a thing? I had film friends who swore it was revolutionary. I liked it, but I told them it was nothing that special. I think I won that argument, since this is like the first time I've seen it mentioned since a month after it was released.
I didn't realize I'd seen a cut version of it. I loved it, but it's been years, so I don't remember much, so I guess it's about time to see if I can dig up the full cut.
Also the Zelda cartridge isn't gold. I would think they would try to pimp that because it was awesome.
What about the Nester comics?
Well, I have always thought that they should have made Lisa 12 and Bart 14. Lisa's intelligence and precociousness has always been just a tad too unbelievable for an 8 year-old, but 12 would have been perfect. And, no, there are physical differences between an 8 year old and an 18 year old that are too prominent for…
Well, glad it's okay. I didn't really expect anything more than a B- (not an A.A. Dowd crack). I didn't know Jake Johnson was in it. Maybe they should have cast Joel McHale, too, then we could have all our favorite sitcom stars in one Hollywood blockbuster.
What I noticed is that he's totally getting raped by those graveyard ghosts. Those things'll kill ya fast.
Oh, yep, sorry. Mixed the guys up. I actually quite love both Alec Baldwin episodes. The first one is definitely one of my favorites of its era.
I owned one for the NES, and they couldn't have been that expensive or I never would have owned it.
