Great story. Compelling and rich.

A. NY. THING. UH.

My boyfriend got in to it through no coercing from me. He would just catch a few minutes while I was watching and eventually he got hooked on it too. It's not normally the kind of show he likes, so maybe that will give you hope? When he talks about it, he makes special mention of how good the acting is. He also thinks

I love Mary's screeching and hollering. I'm always on board her hot tamale train WOO WOOOOOO

I watch very little reality TV but I always have time for So You Think You Can Dance. There's no bells and whistles on this show, the talent speaks for itself and it continues to amaze me just what the human body is capable of. Some of the moves they do seem to defy gravity

Ahhh got it. I haven't seen the original and didn't think I could pin the influence on Nolan since it's a remake

There was a lot about Insomnia that felt like Twin Peaks. Anything involving the murder of a teenage girl in a small town will immediately draw comparisons but there were so many things that seemed like echoes of the show from the setting to the best friend's dalliances with murdered girl's boyfriend to murdered

Rachel's family is wealthy, her dad is a doctor and he scares EVERYBODY so I imagine a lot of conversations around the Green dinner table revolved around getting his daughters married off to doctors and lawyers.

i wish i could find the quote cos it's beautiful. As someone from a broken home, it hit hard when she mentions how she had no family growing up and Ben has so many people fighting for his love.

whoops

She was one of the better actors on that show but I remember she got a lot more attention for her Jersey Shore tan than anything else… it's a show about people who spend all their free time at the beach, what did they expect

@avclub-dfafbe21da3d54cf4d22bcd8ad8cf877:disqus i'm 29 I live in Sydney. my parents were very big on music and movies so i grew up with a lot of classic movies in my house, like Scorsese, Lynch, Kubrick etc. a lot of my friends are pretty good with their pop culture knowledge. i went to creative schools so that helped

i kind of love the idea of an Amy-Adams-in-Enchanted scenario where this naive, angelic mermaid winds up working in a tacky tourist bar and having occasional brushes with Miami's seedy criminal underworld

Louis CK seems like the greatest dad in the world. I love that he talks about his daughters with such awe, admiration, frustration and bewildered amusement… like they're people. He makes me appreciate the idea of having children more than boring actresses who when when they talk about their babies sound more like

I'm so sincerely disappointed this isn't a thing. Kelly MacDonald as Lady MacBeth would be Anjelica-Huston-as-Grand-High-Witch levels of perfect casting

@avclub-9621bf642a356f5698546a5902246d4f:disqus  the double standard isn't Dunham or Cyrus being hated on… as I mentioned I completely agree with the issues they were discussing in relation to both of them. I was just curious as to whether it was that particular double standard, which favours Dunham because she's

posted in the wrong place, oops!

Sometimes it felt like there were situations where double standards were obvious and there was honest deconstructions about this, but there was some projection of personal feelings on to the subjects these double standards favoured.
