The man could have restarted the Industrial Revolution out of his basement if anything horrible happened. He worked for the C & O Railroad for most of his adult life and kept time-tables, switching schedules, loading and off-loading procedures and tons of other stuff in his head while he was running a whole rail yard.

He was neglected and abused as a child, but as kind and as gentle a man as I have ever seen. He outlived everyone but his children, and was spry and sharp for almost all of it. He went quietly without any suffering. That's a pretty good end for a life that started horribly.

Well, in news just as sad, Madame Gathers grandfather has died at the ripe old age of 101. He was a lovely man and we will miss him very much.
