Brandon also does great reviews on TV Club Classic for "Dawson's Creek". Given the tone of those reviews and his ability to appreciate what makes DC great despite a lot of things that make it awful at times (*cough*-Dawson-*cough*) I think he's a natural choice to take over for Todd.

I think it was more likely that we're supposed to think that Brit thinks she's as good a singer as she is a dancer - not that the show necessarily does.  I think Heather Morris is one hell of a performer which often makes up for her lack of vocal talent. (She's not a terrible singer mind you, but she's no Rachel.)
