This movie was absolutely astounding. I haven't revisited it since I saw it originally and now I am compelled to. I guess I'll get the Blu-Ray.

Agreed, American Beauty upon first viewing in the height of hype seemed like overrated indulgent trash to me… a second viewing a few years later was a revelation. The same subtle characterisation that really spoke to me in SFU is very apparent in this movie also, yet works on an infinitely smaller timescale.

Hudsucker is real whimsy like they never did before or again, I liked it - it feels like they were making homage to films and a time that I've never experienced, yet somehow got a lot of pleasure from it.
