@ Ahh, there it is

Sy, I couldn't agree more about subsidies. By the way, I found this information on livestock subsidy programs:

Go back to the kiddie table, Smack, and let us adults talk.

lazerguided, I'd rather see the elimination of subsidies and the resources put into proper enforcement of health, environmental and safety regulations at intensive livestock operations and factory slaughterhouses. That will force them to compete on a level playing field.

Sy, I think most rational people, vegetarian or not, would agree PETA and HSUS are more interested in self-promotion than in the treatment of animals.

Carnivorous, we are definitely in agreement.

That's what it is, though. Semantics. And it requires a certain level of pragmatism or you end up trying to rationalize yourself into a corner. I am an omnivore, though I fully appreciate and share some of the concerns of vegans. Does that mean I'll give up meat? Nope. But I try to shop more ethically and support

Interesting that the post above was my 666th comment.

Ghaleon, that's settles it. I will pick this one up. The Dostoevski comparison is apt. I felt my sanity slipping along with Raskolnikov's descent when I read Crime & Punishment. My Name is Red gave me a similar sense (though part of that was from trying to keep up with the different narrators).

Sorry Sy. I meant Stan.

I call bullshit, Sy. The ag industry totally fucks over small, independent farmers. All so we only have to pay $1.39 for a McDouble loaded with "natural" flavouring added.

So do vegans eat vegetables or fruits pollinated by bees? The beekeeping industry is another example of animal exploitation. The hives get moved around from crop to crop, often over long distances. It's one of the suspected contributors to colony collapse disorder.

Nice to see Edgar Winter didn't make it to the top.

At the risk of sound all hipster-like, I don't care what Lester Bangs said and prefer to form my own opinions.

Not at all, Clyde. The Stones released some decent songs following the '70s, even if the albums themselves weren't that great.

I bet your mama don't know you can scratch like that.

Sy, in case you missed it, that's Charlie Watts on the cover. Not Mick Jagger. Being wrong is one thing; continuing to argue when it's been pointed out you're wrong just makes you look stupid.

er, 1968 to 1972

The Stones had an unimpeachable run between 1968 to 1977 with Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street.
