I totally get your point, and I'm not saying Green or Hurley were nearly as good as Blue and Pinkerton. No decades-spanning band consistently puts out album-after-album that stand up to the quality of their best work. The struggles of song-writing, pressures of labels, interests in using current trends or delving into

The Pinkerton-y track here would be "Do You Wanna Get High." That actually sounds like it'd be a b-side or movie soundtrack tune from that era.

I've always thought the only genuinely bad Weezer record was the Red Album, which still has 3 songs I can stand by. I liked Hurley quite a bit and don't get the hate for it.
