The way this episode perfectly balances the small scale stories with the big cancer reveal at the end is the kind of thing that Glee continually fucks up.

It took a while to get going, but by the end of the first season it was really strong. Not as good as Community or Parks and Rec, but I'd argue that it has reached the Cougar Town/Happy Endings level. I have high hopes for season 2.
