…in an episode filled with references to films and comic books from the 1950s, the most dated reference is the boat chase onto the beach, which i'm pretty sure is from Patriot Games, released five years before this episode aired.

…interesting. I remember watching the first broadcast of Itchy and Scratchy Land. Later in syndication I noticed that Klu Klux Clam has been cut. He's definitely cut from the DVD, and without mention in the commentary.

…it is intriguing that in both this episode and "Itchy and Scratchy Land" there is an implicit question concerning what to do with racist, sexist cartoons of an earlier era. At the very least, both episodes suggest that such a history exists, and that it has been changed or buried.

…I think this is the second episode where the Itchy and Scratchy spin-off character "Klu Klux Clam" has been edited out completely. He is mentioned in "Itchy and Scratchy Land," though in all reruns, and on the DVDs, he's gone. If you look closely at :41 in the third clip, he's there. If my memory serves, in the

"Kissinger and Nixon."

…how did Sade earn $33 Million? Are Billy Ocean and Grover Washington numbers 21 and 22?

…you know what shocks me most about this video? that the static, locked down camera position necessitates someone "behind the camera."

…i'm willing to forgive that particular narrative contrivance, likely because there are so many more in "Afternoon Delight" alone (deafened by a 'rape horn' for over 16 hours?) what bothers me more is that on a DJ karaoke song list, "Afternoon Delight" comes alphabetically first. What about "ABC" by the Jackson 5? or

…i know, i agree with you. that post was nowhere near as painfully over-analytic and pretentious and, quite frankly, long, as i intended it to be. i just want to apologize profusely to you, wallflower. next time, it'll be so pretentious and painful, you'll barf.

…is this film really rated PG-13?

…can I say that I think the creation of this "event": both the concert performance and the intensity related to posting it here, is a profound misjudgment of the popularity of this video?

…to the endless resounding chorus of absences to this list, i'd like to add two songs by The Ramones: "Touring" and "Danny Says." While the inclusion of "Danny Says" would seem to be obvious, let me just reiterate…
The "dire" of the title of this would seem to welcome songs with a Segar-esque desperation of touring

…i, for one, appreciate the AV Club bringing in a band with a slightly wider sonic palette than usual. Maybe its the bands that are "cool" right now, but after a few of these various videos, the sound of a slightly fuzzy SG, dull bass, and Ramones-esque "competent" drumming gets a little tired.
