Im in work and have to make this trail of thought flow somehow……………..

Been reading so many reviews for PJ and this 4 album lull needs to be done away with…. especially when its in contrast to the first 4 albums… PJ got scolded for being classic rock acolytes when really their first album was the only thing that had those riffs and monolithic riffs, choruses etc By Vs they had already

I agree with everything you say here… that was always his ace, he finished the show perfectly. I still get goosebumps when I see him tell Finchy where to go. With the Office revisited, there was no context for him to play around in, and no heart to see him struggle in

This is an awesome album… I followed MV up to Nocturniquet too but that album did nothing for me. You hear little flashes of Omar's burst's of old but I like this album regardless of what went before. It kind of reminds of Cat Power's Sun album in terms of sonics but rocks more and incorporates the electronics more

Fair enough review but some of the posters here are way off the mark. Give the album a listen before writing them off. Matt Cameron's drumming alone is worth the price of admission but the rest of the band are in flying form. Its hard to not compare with their 90's output, and I was wary after hearing 'Live To Rise'
