I also loved the episode of The Detour that made fun of the Hamilton craze.

I guess I'm the only one who didn't think it was that bad. I rewatched it a month or so back because they released it on DVD. Now that its been a few years and without the expectations of expecting the next Happy Endings, I generally enjoyed it as the funny short-lived sitcom it was. It wasn't perfect, but like Happy…
Was I mistaken in hearing her and June originally wrote that for themselves to star in, but then the studios wanted big names and retooled it into a big studio Kate Hudson romcom. I recall either Casey or June saying the orginal script they wrote was going for more of a "War of the Roses" thing.
Which is kinda odd, because her comedy style is always a bit over-the-top crazy in most things. Her and Jenny Slate in particular seemed like they were afraid to be themselves on SNL and just kinda played these toned down, timid versions of what they're normally good at.
My bet is it was probably Lorne Michaels (wasnt that a rumor at the time on why she got fired at SNL?) but she said "director" throwing everyone off Lornes scent!
Seeing Casey Wilson on tv being hilarious makes me miss Happy Endings.
Seeso really needs to improve their quality if they want more people to sign up. The choppiness and constant buffering was enough to drive me away. I might reconsider if they get on some streaming apps, Roku or Chromecast, something.
Also check him out on Brett Gelman's super twisted Adult Swim special "Dinner with Brett Gelman and Friends". Disturbing stuff
Cant wait for this. Glaser plays such a specific type of smug jackass that just cracks me up more than anything. I think all his classic obnoxious dickheads were what made that era of Conan (late 90s, early 00s) cant miss tv for me. Judging by the trailers for this, it looks like I won't be disappointed. This looks to…
I never understood why she didnt have a bigger career after SNL, she was great, her Barbara Walters remains one of my favorite SNL impressions. She's mostly disappeared from mainstream film/tv it seems. This was probably the first I've seen of her since that Dumb & Dumber prequel.
Anyone else checking out Impastor which comes on right after this? I discovered it watching Jim's show and ended up finding it the better of the two. Getting kind of a My Name is Earl vibe from it, doesnt seem very sitcom-y or at all like anything I would've ever expected to see on TV Land.
Why was Hulu so eager to rescue this but not Happy Endings? It seems like HE just missed the "Streaming services saving 3-seasons-or-more shows from cancellation" bandwagon by like a year.
Heres a TDS regular I completely forgot about until looking at the full list on Wikipedia today. Al Greenwood the Bedspread King! I forgot all about his "Wrinked Nuts" special (a great compilation of all the field stories with crazy old people) Comedy Central used to run all the time back in the day. The Daily Show…
I also just remember Tom Shillue used to have a regular segment for a couple years called "This Week In Hate" - I think he was there during Kilborn's final year stuck around with Jon a year or so. Shillue might have the distinction of being the only conservative (or libertarian) comedian to work on The Daily Show.…
I mostly remember Walsh and Bakkedahl as correspondents who got a lot of the "local crazy" type field pieces. Walsh had a memorable one interviewing a guy who drove across the country naked. And Bakkedahl had a great one interviewing that Bo Dietl nutjob about womens prisons. That one had a lot of quoteable lines such…
Was a blast seeing so many of my old favorites return to say goodbye. Loved that they got forgotten favorites like Vance DeGeneres and Mo Rocca, who I gotta say surprisingly look exactly the same (minus some gray hair) all these years later. I liked that they included some recognizable comedic actors like Matt Walsh…
Glad they're doing another season, the first season was hilarious. Also glad Hill is playing Phe Phe again, that character was too good to get rid of.
No Kristen Schaal this time, but it looks like they swapped in Erinn Hayes from Childrens Hospital. She's no Schaal, but I like her too.
It's a shame most people never mention Beth Littleford in the hall of great TDS correspondents. I'd actually say think she was the true star of the show in those early Kilborne years. Her Barbara Walters-style "celebrity interviews" were fucking classics. She'd interview to most random people like Boy George and…
