Just in time for the campaign season
I started off reading the article thinking "Too bad I live in Iowa, I guess I'll never get to check this out." It's debuting here, seriously? And in Clinton? That's small even by Iowan standards, and we don't even have a city with more than half a million people in this state.

Rabin is the obvious choice. He even lives in Chicago already, so no extravagant transportation fees are needed. Nathan, have your agent start making some calls.

Lovecraft has the Minnesota Lurking Fear and the California Cthulhus (Go Old Ones!), and Plath has the San Francisco Jars.

MS. Found in a Bottle…
…was my first Poe. It's a great little story about an adventure at sea, and was among Melville's inspirations for "Moby Dick." Still has the overbearing sense of dread, though, as the protagonist sails further and further into the unknown.

A screener leaked about a week and a half ago. The quality is kinda dull though, and I am really looking forward to seeing it air for real, so I can fully appreciate the quality of the 16mm camerawork. It looks to be a gorgeous series.

Dear Mr. Jackson
You're more than welcome to film in Montana, Wyoming and the Dakotas. Right now we're just using them for air storage.

But the slow panning shots of your foliage will look fantastic.

The HD restoration on this is flawless. Criterion, as always, has delivered.

Trombino
They didn't have a falling out with him. They recorded a bunch of material that was underwhelming, so the band decided that they wanted to scrap what they had done and start fresh. But because of the time involved in giving it a second go, it created a schedule conflict for Trombino. It was for the best

Strange Days
Kinda surprised this didn't make the list. The film's original teaser usually shows up on any kind of "Best Trailers" list.

That is one of my all-time favs. It has great imagery, music made just for the trailer, and interests the viewer without giving even one detail about the plot, other than that the city is dark.

No one fact checks anymore
Someone may have already pointed this out, but in Michigan, 187 is not the penal code for murder. Each state has their own codes. 187 is California's code for murder. Detroit's real murder code is 750.316. Michigan doesn't even have a 187 section.

Redux
Um, he already tried this once, back in June. It was investigated by the state, and they found no evidence whatsoever that any of it was true. Is he under the impression that they just forgot about it over the summer?

It would appear so. This will mark Melton's 9th writing credit, and Dunstan's 10th. Also, Dunstan got to direct a film last year.

Hooray! I'm in Limbo!
Sweet, I just turned 30, so I have a solid decade before anyone will notice me again. Guess that means I'm going to start spending my workday doing a lot more Bloody Mary drinking and a lot less pants wearing.

Let's not forget Earth 2, SeaQuest DSV, and Ned & Stacy.

I agree that there was a huge leap in quality between her first TDS bit and her AZ piece. She still hasn't found her groove yet, but I think she shows definite comedic promise.

One of my ex-girlfriends is topless in this movie. So that's…um…nice, I guess.

More articulate than Mel, less articulate than Edward
From those of us who thought we were showing our support by buying the hardcover edition only to find out the paperback now has an added chapter that we'll never get to read without buying another copy of the book: um, thanks?

Oh yeah
I was about to complain that Nathan Rabin didn't give an answer, then I remembered that he already gave his answer in book form.
