This reminds me that I recently bought a Clapton cd box set at a thrift shop, and a significant selling point for me was that only about 50% of the material was actually by Eric Clapton - as opposed to Yardbirds, Cream, etc.

Someone Please Explain Bicycle Safety to Queens of the Stone Age, obviously.

Was Snoop also speaking in Cookie-speak? Because that was how that scene played out in my mind and it made the story even better.

Wes Craven's And Then A Skeleton Popped Out.

I've decided it would be kind of refreshing just once to at least see something like "I like all music except for polka and madrigals".

Obviously, this means that Neil Young should capitalize on his popularity in my home state by working with Daft Punk and making Trans II.

Yeah, I had this mental image of Baldwin hurling abuse at someone while ballroom dancing with them.

I can't think of anything in terms of movies, but I can think of a song: When "Shoop" by Salt N Pepa was popular, I was pretty much just old enough to vaguely know it was dirty, but it wasn't until I heard it played as a token "retro" song at a club that I learned the one word the radio edit cut out was "retard"

My favorite example of censorship making the hook of a song unintelligible is the MTV edit of "Lit Up" by Buckcherry, which just made it sound like it was an ode to the definite article - "I love the! I love the!"

Is there anything more Muppets-ian than Muppets?

"Roscoe" by The Rhyth-O-Matics: a pretty nice bit of jazzy instrumental ska.

I believe Mr. Yelnoc is talking about The Clonus Horror (also known as Parts: The Clonus Horror), a 1979 film with a remarkably similar plot to The Island. There was actually a lawsuit over the similarities, which was settled out of court.

From earliest to most recent:

In college, I knew a guy who was constantly told he looked like Shaggy. On Halloween, he just wore a green v-neck t-shirt and brown pants, and I appreciated that he'd decided to own it (or at least realized he had an extremely easy costume idea at his disposal).

Whether or not "Mane" was an intentional pun, I'm going to pretend it was because I enjoy this post more that way.

Always should be someone you really looooooove.

Friday I watched The Croods. You see, back when "Cageflix" was a thing I somehow decided to watch every Nicolas Cage movie in existence at the time and blog about it, and now whenever something involving him comes out on dvd I try to keep up my record. It was nothing special, but a little better than I expected: I

The only specific example I can think of is Van Halen's Best Of Volume 1 - They put out a two disc best of eight years later and called it The Best Of Both Worlds. But it would have been kind of silly to call the second one Volume 2 anyway, because it was pretty redundant with the older compilation.

Who walks The Walkmen?

This made me wonder if "mpsh" was an initialism for anything: Google reveals that there are several things it stands for, but my preferred interpretation here is a "Master of Professional Studies in Horticulture pit". Sometimes music gets you so pumped up that you just want to go out and cultivate plants.
