My dad was (and still is) mainly into 60's folk and 70's singer-songwriter type stuff - Also, Phil Collins.  I didn't really hear much solo Paul Simon as a kid unless it was "You Can Call Me Al" on the radio, but I do remember  hearing a hell of a lot of "The Boxer" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" being blared on the
