You're absolutely right. The trailer made that movie look so awesome and it ended up being so meh. I remember the avclub review being pretty spot on about why it didn't end up working. Lee Tamahori's movies have a tendency of doing that. Except The Edge, that movie is ridiculously good.

Yes, I am using gnarly to reflect my positive feelings toward Constantine. I felt as if the film had many well choreographed action sequences and a professionally shot noir style aesthetic that I can only refer to as being totally tubular.
