I'm not the biggest Brand fan but the anchors were embarrassingly condescending and amateurish. He was right to point this out. I mean these are journalists? Come on….

Manhattan
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Annie Hall

As a huge Brian Wilson/Beach Boys fan for most of my life I am glad he is working on an ew album - especially since Al Jardine will be on it. Al's voice has really held up. Brian's album's have been hit and miss but I'm glad he's still working and glad he's still alive. That lucky old sun was really good….

Ulysses just kidding…. probably something by Rilke (out of the Book of Images or one of the Duino Elegies)

I think I had the same gut reaction upon first watching - that the episodes were too slow, too dense and just not as funny as the original - and of course my expectations were way too high. So I took some time off and now just rewatched the first episode…

let the b+tching begin

I would say that best book(s) I read this year were: The short stories of Andre Dubus, The short stories of William Trevor and Raymond Carver's What we talk about when we talk about love.

I don't understand all the Billy Joel hate. He is a good (great?) songwriter - at least through this album. Great melodies, pretty good lyrics…I don't get the hate… is it because he's successful? I mean come on he's not the eagles right?

technically he is right. He owns the right to the Beach Boys  name - Brian voted on that many years ago and gets money from Mike touring. And don't always take Brian's earnestness at face value - he is a great manipulator too. It is has been clear from day 1 Mike didn't like having to run everything through Brian's

1) Watching Brian Wilson and VDP writing the songs for Smile at BW's house. Seeing them come up with those words and melodys for Surf's up, Wonderful, Heroes and Villains would have bene something
