Steinbeck: some stuff great other stuff meh
Fitzgerald: I so want to like him but meh
Sinclair Lewis: boring and overrated
Twain: ok

i agree. i read it when i was 19 and it just didn't seem that big of a deal to me. especially not compared with some of the other things i was reading at the time (thoreau among them)
