er…"a space cop." Obviously he does not become an alien.

It also just boils down to what kind of story is involved in this origin. Superman's origin story requires a tona of exposition, followed by him growing up, followed by him accepting his powers, than he has to prove himself to Metropolis, and that's a movie's worth of content. GL's, though—he's a fighter pilot, then

Wasn't that bit of Millerizing more prominent in Year One? I could be remembering wrong.

Yeah, nice write-up, Kaiser, though I do have to jump on the nitpicking wagon; Batman picked bats because bats scare the shit out of him, and thus struck him as ideal for shit-scaring-out-of purposes.
Seriously, though, I really liked this review. Readable without being dumbed-down, and with a good sense of

WALKING DEAD isn't the best stuff out there, but it's way better than Man Sally makes it sound. And I think it'll be well suited to TV, especially if the producers give themselves freedom to deviate from the source.

I loved when they decided the show needed a dumb blond for sweeps, so they introduced Thor Putting Tin Foil In a Microwave.

Oh God, I hope they don't go with motion-capture. The only time that's worked was Gollum, and they had a bajillion years to put that together.

Doc Handsome, I'm with you, but I also LOVE that they've left that a question.

DeVito as Lucifer could be a certain breed of awesome.

That video seemed appropriate for what this movie will probably look like.

I've only seen the first episode of SHERLOCK, but based on that I can't recommend it enough. Non o' yous will be disappointed.

@Flashman:
Everybody.

I'd actually very much like to read write-ups of the first season, and then maybe one essay entry summarizing why all subsequent seasons were terrible.

So wait, though, where IS Firefly?
I'm not fanboying/flaming, it's just kind of odd that that hasn't happebed yet, given the AVC's very prevalent pro-Whedonism. It would take like a month. Any reason that hasn't happened yet?

You can argue that AJFA's not really a thrash album, but I don't see it as an abandonment of anything. I think it's the natural culmination of the Kill Em All—>Ride the Lightning—>Master of Puppets trajectory.
I'm entirely with everything else you said.

UMD—I'd never thought of the Justice production as being a more realized version of what black metal bands go for, but I really like that thought.

AJFA is definitely the best Metallica album. A lot of people give you shit for saying that because Burton wasn't on it, but really, he kinda was—To Live Is To Die is all riffs and passages he wrote, so it's not like he wasn't a presence. Blackened and Dyer's Eve are the peak of the band's brutality, Hammet does his

They're clearly just alter egos. Perry is Deschanel when she's drunk.

I like that focus in AVC reviews because story is my PRIMARY concern when it comes to video games, but halfway through typing that I realized just how rarely I play games anymore and that that's probably why, so I think I just came around to agreeing with you guys.
