It's been suggested that Brian is essentially Henry's Oliver and that he may or may not have died at some point in the season. I never really bought it, but if it were true, it'd be interesting.
Yeah, you're right. I'd buy that the show built up Daria too much if Andrea hadn't called her out on her bullshit in Mart of Darkness, if Jane and others hadn't accused her of being callous in The Misery Chick, If she hadn't realized how unfair and cruel she was being in Monster, and that's not even getting into her…
It's a Canadian thing. Canadians use Sorry for a variety of reasons, and like I said in another thread, it can actually mean sorry, it can mean that you think the other person should say sorry, it can mean that you just want to remove yourself from the situation with a minimum of fuss, it can be a rebuke to someone…
People think Canadians are polite because we often tend to sublimate conflict and are more likely to keep each other at arms' length. Something something Northrup Frye something something Garrison Mentality something something Canadian Sorry.
In Canada, Deal. With. THAT. and "Sorry!" are often synonymous. The Canadian Sorry can mean anything from "Sorry" to "Fuck Off, It's Your Problem" depending on inflection.
AI is interesting because it's like, the anti-Spielberg movie. It looks like a Spielberg film from a distance, but the ending is such a profound downer that sort of obliterates that vibe.
The thing that bothers me about this film is that it apparently equates legitimate analysis like the Family of Man reading and the implication that Jack raped Danny, both of which have strong textual support, with conspiracy theories.
I think what makes Darren work so well is that he starts with what could be a good idea (A filthy, tattered, ugly aesthetic for Hamlet, a post-modern Romeo and Juliet) and then he takes a hard turn into hack territory and throws out a lot of jargon that makes you feel like he'd be happier as a theorist than as a…
My take was always that he was killing Daniel out of spite, not knowing that Daniel would need to be killed in order for his soul to be transfigured into the new dream.
It's always been my understanding that the kidnapping and murder of Daniel (because let's not muddy the waters. He gets killed. Because how else do you strip the mortal and the immortal apart?) was orchestrated by Dream. I'm fairly sure that retrieving Daniel was what Morpheus asked Loki to do way back at the end of…
@TheMogul:disqus The last of Les Miserables had months before shooting to learn their parts and shooting took four months. Glee takes ten days per episode, and that's staggered since like most shows they shoot multiple episodes to maximize efficiency.
It was actually Hulu's headline for the episode. Glee "Jonathan Coultinizes" Baby got back, or something like that.
Actually, Terri's got an interesting arc. She starts out as totally incompetent but over time she actually gets good at her job.

Yes. I do think that it's worse when people who have less privilege are victimized. What, exactly, is wrong with that? Is his wealth, his celebrity cruise, his massive cult audience, totally immaterial?
Not really. The victim raising money and putting it towards charity is part of the usual internet manufactured controversy cycle. It's a kind of a hackneyed move designed to make the victim appear purer and like they're taking the moral highground.
Not really? If he doesn't even care about the money, then it's all about intangibles and I kind of don't give a fuck if his feelings were hurt. If he doesn't care about the money (doubtful, since last I heard he was still thinking of suing) then the whole thing basically boils down to a rich nerd having a sad because…
Not really.
It's probably because of time, really. Because of how single camera TV is produced they might be shooting two or more episodes at once, each with all of their songs, plus they have to learn and shoot the spoken material. They probably don't have time to learn how to really nail a song and run through it enough times.
