I grew up in an area with a surplus of mom-and-pop homemade ice cream shops, so when I moved to Arizona, i.e. The Land Where Ice Cream Went To Die, Edy's Dreamery was a lifesaver.  The chocolate ice cream with peanut butter cups was my favorite.  I could go for some right now…

Congratulations!

"A Senile Animal" and Red Dead!  Two of my favorite things!  It never occurred to me to check out the OST for Red Dead even though I loved the music…  Me so smrt.

I feel like everyone should get a free pass to give the cold shoulder to a certain percentage of their co-workers who are horrible.  For example, I work with about 50 people or so, so I get to be chilly and distant to 2 of them without feeling guilty.  If I worked with 100 people, I think I could get away with being

I've started going to a track on weekends to work out.  I have shin splints, but I've discovered the pain goes away if I run with deliberate, energetic strides.  I think my spirit animal is an elephant seal with the shins of a Tennessee Walking horse.

I'd want to drive around doing the whole leaf-peeping thing in New England all on back roads and without a single other carload of people doing the same thing at the same time as me.  That last bit is the kicker…

I'm looking forward to GTA V because IV hit me before I was sophisticated enough for anything beyond a side-scrolling platformer.  I got stuck in traffic on an on-ramp the first time I needed to ditch the cops and it was all downhill from there.  I need a do-over (with more frequent auto-save points)!

Can't go wrong with Simon and Garfunkle's Concert in Central Park for a road trip.

Liked for Pelican!  I just ordered their new 7".  I can't wait to hear it.  Also, I read they're playing Fun Fun Fun Fest, so now I'm wondering if they'll be doing any touring on the East Coast soon…

@avclub-75e43c12ef9f1cfdaeae92ca6fa90640:disqus  I spent 8 years of high school and college waiting to hear someone say that and now my dream has finally come true.  Now I can quit listening to good music and start listening to Wilson Phillips!  Woohoo!

Happy Birthday!

You know what would be awesome?  A Dolly/Melvins split 7" where they cover each other's songs.  Think I should suggest that to Buzz when I see him in August?

Pelican “Winds With Hands”
Battles “My Machines”
Pillowfight “You’re So Pretty”
Melvins “Teet”
Japancakes “The Sleepy Strange”

I did a school exchange for a month in Moscow the summer this came out.  It was the first time I was away from home and I was homesick pretty much the entire time, particularly when we'd get to watch MTV.  But then they started playing this video non-stop and I was like, "Fuck this, I'd rather stay in Russia doing the

"Phony Calls".  Not having much exposure to TLC, I took me a while to be in a position where I could put two and two together.

"Thunderball" isn't just one of the best male-vocal Bond themes, it's one of the best period.  I'm just sad that Shirely Bassey's "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" was relegated to a bit of background music in that movie.  They should have just waited and used it as the theme for one of the later ones.

There were a few years there after the album came out that I thought "Nothingness" was the coolest, loveliest song ever.  I think I put it on every mixtape I made in 7th and 8th grade.  Good times, good times.

Blue it is!  Thanks!
