Walks really kill you when they are issued to the guy leading off an inning.  All but the very best pitchers give up an average of around a hit an inning.   So that's two baserunners, and a lot of pitchers don't do well under stress.

Do guys like that have it made or what?  You play 15 years in the big leagues, you don't get a mega contract or anything, but if you are smart, you can retire on your earnings.  Best of all, nobody knows who you are.

He's defined as a scrappy, hustle type player relative to the guys he competes against.  The talent margin in pro sports is incredibly small.  Everyone who is good enough to make a living at it is incredibly talented.  Still, you can see that the game comes a little easier to a guy like Chase Utley as opposed to David

Old Tiger Stadium had them.  Looking back, that's just wrong.

I remember watching the A's/Tigers in '06.  When they played at the Coliseum, one of the announcers said, "Why do they have the upper deck covered?  Just charge 10 bucks for those seats and fill the place up."

The Red Sox have also been using this formula for years.  Bottom line is that statisitics tell some of the story, but other factors like individual player performance and injuries are huge variables.  The Red Sox of this year may end up in the playoffs, but injuries to their pitching staff, underperforming players,

Gus's sexual orientation is irrelevant to the story, but the fact the question arises says much about the quality of his character development.  Even with the reveals we've had this season, the guy is still a pretty big mystery.

If I had to grade this episode, I'd give it a -
