Around the fall or early December, I usually re-watch this because of all the Christmas lights and the seasonal look and feel of the film. Then, I hope and pray that people around me have a much better Christmas than the characters. The film uses early Christmas songs well. Actually, that goes for all of the music in…
There's a Korean drama called "Angel Eyes" that has a mother and son relationship that resonated with me. I won't spoil it in case you ever get around to it, but it's excellent and wholesome.
Within the film itself is a bait-and-switch. I was pretty young when I watched it (maybe 12), so I stopped watching once it became a love story, but my brother continued with it until the end.
On the other hand, the characters sometimes act like idiots. But it's not handled in an idiotic way.
The Crying Game.
the film's a little slow. but I guess that's the kind of films Terrence Malick makes.
As a kid, I thought those Napoleon at Waterloo scenes were the greatest thing ever.
It wasn't, but The Sandlot is mentioned and it borrows a lot from Stand By Me
that's a good pick - The Sandlot borrows a lot from Stand By Me
+1 on The Sandlot - to add to the description, I would mention the scenes at the pool, the amusement park, and that awesome "America, the Beautiful" with fireworks and baseball scene on the 4th of July.
I also associate that year with paving the way for Alejandro González Iñárritu's success for the last couple years, too, with Babel. Mexican directors that year made some of the best films.
dunno about Josh, but I have. It's not necessary to enjoy the album, but it is enjoyable nonetheless. I still picture the scarecrow when I think of the verse from "Brain Damage".
"…"
that was my response to his having bought singles even though the music was available in other forms.
You had five Postal Service albums? Yes, you need to purge. Badly.
I know what you mean. I can relate.
I just wanted to highlight the song. Somehow, I had never heard (or at least listened to) it before it even though I've loved and been intrigued by a lot of music that resembles it (produced after). It's fantastic.
I've only seen it a few times, but I own it. The first time I saw it, I was blown away. Thankfully, I was ready for it. There's so much in it, though, that I get the feeling that I could watching it a hundred times and it would still show more each time.
I've been getting into more Pink Floyd these last couple weeks. I love Meddle (including "Echoes") and Obscured by Clouds. Even Atom Heart Mother is fun. I pretty much prefer all of the albums they did before The Wall (though that has a handful of excellent individual tracks).
Their whole marriage is played wonderfully. And his crime streak is hilarious. That's my favorite Nicolas Cage role by a long shot.
