because the real thing was too powerful?

The beginning and the very end of UP are fantastic, but the villain and most of the animals kind of… took me out engaging with the movie as a whole. The kid and the golden retriever going along with the old guy on that journey is all cool and all, but there are some ridiculous things that just didn't work for me as an

I can relate to that one about Where the Red Fern Grows.

Gotcha. One of the interesting things about Buffy is that she doesn't always make the best decisions. She's a teenager, and then later an adult who is still trying to figure things out. I thought the show did a pretty good job of presenting the idea that it's right for Buffy to kill him, but it's a devastating

I really like(d) Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots and The Soft Bulletin.

"Gladiator", "Blade Runner", "Black Hawk Down", and "American Gangster" go in that pretty good list.

I get what you mean, but I think it indicates that "Alien" is one of the best films ever made, while the rest of his work is either pretty good, only okay, or a mess. I think in the "pretty good" list, there are some good movies, if not quite essential.

"Amadeus" is his best work, but I thought "Man on the Moon" was also pretty interesting and very well done.

"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" is pretty great.

also: "Hush" (Season 4) is still a fantastic stand-alone episode.

That plot arc is worth pursuing to the end of Season 3. The middle of any Buffy season has a few "monster of the week" variety shows and slowly creeps the character building forward, but in my opinion it would be worth going back to finish the end of Season 3 so you can get a full story.

I think U2 was excellent in the 80s, still pretty good but slowed down in the 90s, and kinda plateaued and never progressed after the early 2000s.

I agree re: Twin Peaks vs. his films

I agree with you re: Match Point.

When I watched Alias, I thought to myself, "Oh. This is what explains Jennifer Garner."

The only role I like him in is in Les Miserables.
It's a different kind of role, but he's good in it.

not any part of Metropolis Pt.2?

The Frighteners is great

You must have been too young for Happy Gilmore

Anna Torv in Fringe
Michel Gondry, for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
