Great job, Jason! Sounds like a fun book, and I will spend my hard-earned cash on it.

You always love your first Doctor just a little bit more than any of the others, no matter how excellent they are. That said, I recommend that you press on with Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. There is a lot of wonderful in there, even if some episodes are less than great. Once you're caught upon the new…
Turlough is hot, so it's huge relief to me that the actor was in is twenties.
Yeah, that's pretty much how it went down. Moral of the story: if there's any chance the eggs have been fertilized, do the flashlight test. Whatever you do, DON'T trust your neighbor's assurances that the eggs "couldn't be more than a day or two old".
Yeah, once you've tasted real super-delicious (i.e. home made) pork skin, you realize what they're trying (and failing) to capture in the bagged versions.
I bought my ridiculously spoiled dog some foie gras biscuits from Bouchon. He wasn't anywhere near as enthusiastic as he should have been, so I tried them - pretty damn tasty.
I tried to make brined duck eggs a few months back, but when I proudly opened them, discovered that I had accidentally made balut. It was… pretty horrifying.
Oh, I dunno - killer Christmas trees, murderous masked Santas, alien spaceships shaped like the Star of David, Dickensian cybermen, satsumas… seems pretty Christmassy to me.
No, it was excellent (at least, 4 of the 5 scenes were, one was a bit pointless). I just want them to review it, and am looking for excuses.
May I add a request for the Doctor Who Christmas specials?
Goddammit. Heller mentioned Feliz Navidad, and so my brain has been hijacked by that terrible, terrible song YET AGAIN.
This should cheer you up:
John Robie, you just made me cry. And remember Constantine the movie. Neither of these things are things I wanted to do. Meanie.
The entire premise of Doctor Who allows for near-infinite additions to the canon. As a director, you can do pretty much whatever you want, including changing the actors and rewriting history. WHY REBOOT??
Each to their own, but the play between "galactic evil threat at a distance" and "relatable intrigue up close" is exactly what I liked about this book.
Oi, Nibbles! My pumpkin is more awesome that your pumpkin.
Yeah, I'd add "the Moist books" and "the Tiffany books" (technically witch books, but different) to the sub-series mentioned in the article - and either would be a great place to start.
Huh. I routinely list FotD as one of my favorite science fiction books, and always give the Tines as examples of really interesting well-thought-out aliens. I loved the vaguely Shakespearean feel to their intrigues.
Littlest Hobo, Greatest American Hero, and Doctor Who. That is all.
Why, thank you! Yes, yes it is.
