This is a great observation about her character.

I'm all of a sudden imagining what would happen if P&E made it back to Russia alive and ran into Martha at the grocery store…
This is excellent trivia. Oranges foreshadow death, who knew? Leaving this here for anyone else who wanted to google it: http://uproxx.com/tv/a-brie…
That shot was lingering, and I was anticipating Oleg walking back into the frame- like he had just noticed something fishy on the shelf, or something. What they did with that shot was SO MUCH BETTER. Five seasons in, The Americans still has fresh ideas and clever cinematography. I love it.
Do you feel the same way about Tuan?
"When Paige expresses dismay at the messiness of the world, Matthew shoots back a 'There’s nothing we can do about it.' That’s not the type of thing our crusader for nuclear disarmament wants to hear from her boyfriend, and it probably contributes to her frustration and confusion as much as the stuff with her parents."
Is that something that happens in youth groups?
I was a little annoyed at how he was written tonight. Based on how he kept telling stories, it seems like he was really eager for parental figures, but that might have just been clumsy exposition. I'll be interested to see if that habit continues.
Expressing herself freely about sex and normalizing it for Paige seems like a healthy and progressive method of parenting- pretty modern, which makes me think that they're trying to make the point that Elizabeth doesn't share America's more Puritanical views on the subject. It's something the creators have discussed…
"The clash of styles feels like reading the Iliad spliced together with Die Hard. I mean, they're both great, but they're no chocolate and peanut butter."

Was that ever a category of personal ad before Craigslist?
I wondered that, too- what's going to make Lassa any easier to transport this time than last time?
Although with Mad Men, one episode probably still contains more drinking than I do in a year.
Stan's so pathetic at this point, I'm suspicious that he's been playing a long game on P&E and eventually he'll reveal he's been onto them since he planted a bug in their garage in episode 1.
It's amazing how my current anxiety over US-Russian politics has done NOTHING to dampen my enthusiasm for this show.
Ben Carson has taught us that just disqualifies him for Surgeon General, not some other cabinet position he'd be completely unqualified for.
His affair made little sense to me- they showed zero motivation for it.
Can we talk about how they already did the "nobody pays attention to the secretary" bit when they did "nobody pays attention to the taxi driver?" On top of the melodrama, even the mystery of the week wasn't compelling.
The shark is Chekov's gun, in that I kept expecting someone to get eaten or at least shoot a glass shark tank.
