I gave up on getting a physical copy too and just paid GameStop for a digital download.

I've got KoA in my backlog too, and while I can't quite call it "heartless" I'm not exactly running back to it either. I'll probably give it another whirl in a few months. I'm guessing you two find it this way because it's basically a single-player MMO? I feel like there are certain environments where other human

This could be a whole other article on the A.V. Club, "What entertainment cost you a relationship"? In fact it might have already been done, I haven't bothered to search through the site archives.

I also had a spectacular dud with a Terrence Malick movie, in my case The Thin Red Line. My dad loves World War II movies, he was born in 1942 so he was surrounded by the culture of that war for his entire childhood. Seeing a movie that dared to question the awesomeness of that war quickly caused a short circuit in

How far in to Bravely Default are you? I mentioned it over in my other post. I've got the whole squad maxed out at Level 99 and am in Chapter 8. Not giving any spoilers in case you're not as far in. It doesn't feel as much of a slog to me as it would normally, as it's the first JRPG I've gotten into for several years

Good point, but strictly on the merits, WoW is not a bad game. There are much worse MMOs, including one that I am ashamed to have devoted almost all of 2009 to, namely Warhammer Online: Age Of Reckoning. It was a bug-filled, half-baked trainwreck, and I knew it from the first few hours I played it. I stuck with it

In Bavaria we have a saying: 'Der Junge ist ja total bedient.' It means 'This is the most depressing fucking kid I've ever met in my life.'

I was not aware that TinyURL was known as a vector for internet disease transmission, is there a better way for me to post paragraph-long Gawker URLs for future snarkiness?

Hey TJ, when you're done using that allen wrench, can I borrow it? I got some stuff from Ikea that's a little more "disassembled" than I expected

This. For a list of "mainstream" weird song lyrics it is utterly confounding that there is no Beck in this list. Beefheart and Zappa I can understand, but no Beck is completely inexcusable.

Did you just change your avatar for the express purpose of making this post?

According to the linked Pacific Standard article, the Wachowskis' "Speed Racer" from a few years back has some visual elements that resemble the Gephstein cut. Nothing more specific is cited, did anyone here actually bother watching that movie?

King of Prussia Mall outside Philly has two Gamestops on two floors of the mall, practically on top of each other. Being such a huge mall, you'd think they would have relocated one to the other end of the mall, but no. Maybe there's a dumbwaiter connecting the two making them secretly one single store. I'm pretty sure

Never heard of that game, but after going to the Amazon page for it (still $30! Only 20 copies left!) it definitely seems worth picking up. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, that actually sounds pretty harsh. Thanks for the heads-up. Maybe I'll just go for "100% map" (yeah I just made that up) where I visit all the levels at least once. I'm not even through the Special levels yet. This is just one of those games that I see myself coming back to for a couple days every few months for

I tried a little 3D World too and it seemed directly inspired by 3D Land, which is probably one of the best platformers I've ever played. When I have a retro itch I usually dust off my collection of Super NES ports for Game Boy Advance. I never really got into Sega like you… guess I missed the boat on that one :-(

While I wait for the Wii U to dip below $200 - after which I'll probably buy it just for the Mario game in the article - I've got a monster backlog of 3DS games to work on for the next few weekends. I'll probably start with Bravely Default, but I might put that off and get back to my own 100%-ing task, for Super Mario

I like how in the last sentence of your comment, you basically concede that you are more to be pitied than admired, but damned if you didn't hit that "Post" button anyway!

Yay, I found both of the Linux mini-discussions in the comments! This one is more recent so I guess I'll post here.
