The exception to your rule being Demolition Man.

The reason Cheers doesn't seem dated (and I think Buzz allluded to this above) is that bars like Cheers never really change and even today you could find regulars in your local bar who at least bear a passing resemblance to Cheers' characters. It's also just a flat-out well-crafted, brilliantly-written show with great

Wait…. ANOTHER politician tweeted a picture of his wang?
There was just a story here in Ontario about a Conservative candidate in Niagara-on-the-Lake who posted a picture of his dick on Twitter, then claimed his phone must have accidentally snapped the picture while it was in his pocket (huh?!?!) then accidentally

Sorry HopeImprovement - I should have refreshed before bringing up TPB. I didn't really follow it after the first two seasons, so I don't know how the documentary crew played out over time, but in those early seasons they seemed pretty consistent.

Yeah, I was going to mention Buster's hand chair too… I THINK it makes an appearance pretty early, but I haven't watched the series in a while. I've actually got the S1 DVDs sitting on top of my DVD player right now because I was meaning to start watching again at the beginning but I didn't have a chance before this

Was Air Farce ever funny? Like, in all its 40 years, was there a point in maybe the early days or something where they had their fingers on the pulse of the nation and were actually comedically relevant, or has it always been grandparent humour? And if so, how did they manage to hang onto a gig like that for so long?

Another comedy that uses the documentary crew to great effect is Trailer Park Boys… the cameramen and boom mic operators actually interact with the characters and get dragged into their schemes. I know in at least one scene Ricky grabs a mic and yells directly into it causing the operator to rip his headphones off.

I believe frontman Rik Emmet is a somewhat respected jazz musician or something now.

I remember when I first started hearing people talk about Red Bull and vodka in the late '90s I thought they were talking about Red Bull malt liquor and couldn't believe anyone would mix that with vodka for any reason. Now that I've actually had Red Bull and vodka, I think I'd rather mix the malt liquor with vodka.

Many years ago, a (very) casual acquaintance faxed an "anonymous" bomb threat to a radio station threatening to blow them up if they didn't stop playing "Two Princes" by the Spin Doctors.

I don't know that it was "big" in Canada, but for a while there it was ALWAYS on… especially throughout the '90s there weren't a lot of Canadian-made TV shows that could consistently get any ratings at all, so Red Green was seen as being a safe bet because at least a handful of people would watch it.

Anyway, this is sad news… I've been watching Taxi reruns lately and while he wasn't exactly the highlight of the show he was a likeable presence.

What's a Tim Conway?

That pause before "and an I" is great… I know it's been mentioned before, but despite not being a very good actor, Jerry's delivery was occasionally perfect.

Yeah, I remember being surprised by Matthew Perry's death on Growing Pains (for some reason, I even remember that his name was "Sandy").

It's pronounced "Minderbinder" and he's 27 years old

Mystery solved
Apparently it was Sam Lloyd's love that killed Robert Pastorelli.

I need more Mullins!

Y'know. as a kid I was scared of the Hulk TV show because he was green and I thought he was a Frankenstein, so basically what you just described was my interpretation of The Incredible Hulk.

I'm in Ontario, AND I'm definitely cheap so I'll give Czechvar a try next time I'm at the LCBO (even though I'm going to assume that's not a Canadian brew so it's kind of cheating for the purpose of this discussion). In a similar vein, I also recommend Faxe Amber…. 500 mL cans for $2.10 and there's even a cool picture
