Right?  Actually, I think that's how I got the original Criterion version… Hoping someone will upgrade my copy of Yi Yi some day, too.

I received the Colors Trilogy Blu Rays for xmas.  They're pretty stunning.  I would also recommend Veronique for a less expensive but just as beautiful look into the Kieslowski Blu Ray world,  I'm planning on getting Qatsi in the next couple months.  And, if you like Malick, Days of Heaven and Thin Red Line are beyond

Don't think of it as being unoriginal.  Think of it as an essential place to branch out from.  I still only have my shitty old old Seven Samurai Criterion DVD (from the old old box set with Yojimbo, Sanjuro and Hidden Fortress), I should probably upgrade that soon enough.

This is one I'm tempted to triple down on.  I had an ebay bought bootleg dvd for a long time, then the Criterion dvd.  Not sure how much I need the blu-ray.  Maybe I'll ask for it for my birthday.  It's easier to justify someone else spending the money for me.

Let's hope so.

I agree.  The "shock" humor was a bit hacky. I would have been more impressed had they made the characters plain old boring adults, without extreme quirks.  The only thing that makes it resemble Louie is the credits, which was just a direct copy.

Or junkies, which Venture Bros did expertly.

I always try and get a little Fugazi in during the week.  Doesn't matter the album.  Though, The Argument is forever stuck in "winter album listening" for me, so I guess I'll dust off those MP3s soon.  I don't remember the time of year it came out, but I certainly spent that winter driving around with that in the CD

Dear Nick Cave,
Please read AV Club comment boards and please come back to Minneapolis.  I don't want to drive to Chicago, but I will if I must.
Sincerely, someone that played "Breathless" at his wedding ceremony.

I'm very happy with my Grinderman coffee mug.

That's an interesting point.  To be fair, like most people in their 30s, I was basically molded by the first 7 or 8 seasons.  But I rarely hear of any references to shows after the 11th season (and that's more than half of the Simpsons total output… Jebus…).  Didn't Bart get married (possibly more than once)?  Didn't
