"That's the worst looking hat I ever saw! I bet when you buy a hat like that it comes with a free bowl of soup, a thin, brown broth with large chunks of lamb, leeks, scallions, potatoes, and diced onions. Oh but it looks good on you though."

Did anyone listen to the audiobook? Jake is supposed to be in his mid 30s but the guy narrating is obviously in his 60s and has this "gee whiz!" delivery style… and the Blanche Devereaux impression he uses for Sadie is just disturbing.

With Avengers #1 I was more excited about where it's going than that individual issue. I didn't really love the issue that much but I know he's planting the seeds for another epic story like his Fantastic Four run.

Yes, everything you said. This book has been a revelation to me. Completely entertaining, and one I would instantly recommend to people curious about comics but not worried about continuity.

JMS drives me nuts. He has done some stuff I've enjoyed (Midnight Nation, some of his Amazing Spider-man run) but for the most part his work is clunky and just way too on-the-nose. Scenes where characters explain their already-obvious motivations to each other, telegraphed "twists," social commentary worthy of a

In the books Rattleshirt isn't taken seriously by the other Wildlings, right? I thought he was the self-styled Lord of Bones but the rest of the them snickered behind his back.
