So far he does seem like the best of this new batch, but it's early yet. Sure, he can write a review, but what does he think about Dawes?

If you're going to jump out like this anytime someone here criticizes a famous person, you're going to become mighty popular round these parts.

Ever since Keith Phipps left, this site's been in a tailspin. It's not just the inconsistent tone. There's too many new features that feel like filler ("Hear/Watch this" pretty much just feel like extended Inventory entries). Too much prattling nonsense (Has "For Your Consideration" ever been interesting? I've only

It couldn't been a Nabin piece. He actually mentions the movie he's reviewing in the first paragraph and there's nothing about his girlfriend or hip-hop.

Yeah who is this clown? Doesn't even know how to spell Konigsberg.

It really depends how much these individual channels would cost and how long you'd have to subscribe to them. I wouldn't pay ten bucks a month for a channel with only a couple interesting shows, but one dollar? Yeah I can pay that. Like the rise of microtransactions in video games, the cable companies could clean up

Aha! So that's why all the CW actors have clear skin and festering emotional problems.

Holy shit!

Someone should really tell him what the actual average height in Britain is. It'll be funny.

Nope. Daisy was fairly average. She was pretty, well dressed, and rich. I don't think she's ever stated to be inordinately gorgeous or so alluring that all the men drool over her. Just Gatsby. When he sees her, he doesn't see a bland little rich girl he sees a fantasy that only vaguely resembles the real woman.

Apparently he thinks she should stay in character for all public appearances so as not destroy his precious immersion.

Everyone knows it's Huckleberry Fin come on.

Catch-22 is incredible because not only is it beautifully written with a lot to say, but it's also one of the funniest things I've ever read. Writing a scathing and well-observed deconstruction of what many still consider to be "the good war" is one thing, but making it laugh out loud hilarious is quite another.

Catcher is a decent novel with a lot of depth and some really interesting prose, but it's not a modern classic or a contender for the great American novel. I don't know why English teachers have put it on this weird pedestal, but I suspect it has more to do with the themes of the book than its actual literary merit.

I saw it in 9th grade and thought it was shit. You don't get to speak for our whole generation.

Because certain people are still recovering form Mulin Rouge?

I was much sadder about losing Tasha and Noel.

Speaking of Us vs. Them, just because conservatives don't like Dan doesn't mean he's actually particularly liberal. He was a vigorous supporter of the Iraq War, for instance, and there was a time when conservatives used him along with other "leftist" hawks like Andrew Sullivan as "proof" that even liberals agreed with

You realize they just repost old strips from the website, right? You could just go there and read ahead if you really need your fix. It's like living in the future.

A lot of advice columnists also use the "see a therapist" line as a quick way to avoid having to answer hard or sensitive questions. I think it's weak and hacky advice for a number of reasons. Therapy costs time and money, so people will avoid going to it unless they absolutely have to, regardless of what a columnist
