Like a lot of people, I don't necessarily object to all of the changes made in the SEs. What I do object to is Lucas claiming he has the right to keep people from viewing the movie in its original form. No that crap "bonus feature" release doesn't count.

If a scene doesn't have any lightsabers in it, it probably isn't worth watching, anyway. That's what makes the new movies so great-so many lightsabers!

See, I—I personally wouldn't even want to go out like that.

ful disclosure: I got the mono set for Christmas and it's totally tits.

nah, it's Lucas by miles.

It's more than just the CG additions: Lucas completely changed the color and contrast throughout the OT when they prepped them for DVD. This was done make them more color saturated and contrasty and in general more like the photography of the new movies. In doing so, he completely fucked the original photography.

GL is the most ironic figure in film history
"In the future it will become easier for old negatives to become lost and be 'replaced' by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten." -George Lucas, 1988

I also feel that the show has tightened up a LOT since the first couple eps and I'm glad I stick with it. That being said, I can't imagine this being the kind of show that people are going to be able to join in on if they haven't been watching all along. Hell, I've been watching from the start and I barely know

"…ucking Pavement"
Bring it on.

Shit! Now I wish I could say I've never seen Top Gun!

"You've Lost That Lovin Feelin"
That scene has always defined , for me, what's wrong with guys my older brother's age, who sincerely, and without irony, refer to their friends as their "wingman."

And some Danzig CDs.

All rise for Bud Cort.

See—I, personally—I wouldn't even wanna go out like that.
