Ok. But how does he know that God hasn't damned them to hell? I get that is human side is coming out but he still is trying to care for people as he demonstrates numerous times in the episode. What'll be more interesting is to see if in the coming episodes he keeps his faith or turns on God completely.

What I don't understand is why the priest is on a mission to prove that the "departed" were "bad people?" Yes, they were sinners according to the bible but everyone is. Christians believe that Jesus died for the sins of mankind. Therefore, even though the "departed" were "sinners" they could still have accepted Jesus…
