I really liked the way they went from a very earth bound story to vast outer space one. It's a good contrasting thing.

Yeah she's winning me over too. I like her wondering at the universe and especially how well the chemistry she and Smith have.

Yeah the Shakri were pretty formidable in their relentless style. They were a little too easily defeated.

And without going too dark as well.

I've really started to appreciate the balance Smith's playing the part brings. He seems to be able to balance the quirky lighthearted parts of the role with the sincerity, emotional toughness needed.
It's refreashing to see that now as I infinitely prefer the balance which I think we lost a little towards the ends of

Most powerful has to be Sutekh I suppose given he can literally destroy worlds.
I never bought into the hyperbolic assessment of the Angels.

Gotta say yes. The budget didn't extend far enough and far too many looked like they just found whatever hodge podge of discarded costume parts they could and winged it.

Yeah she needs a combination of being demure and you seeing why Gatsby would fall for the idea of her, but also a ruthless social gadfly part as well.
It's a complex part.

Gatsby- Simon Pegg
Nick- Jason Statham
Tom-  Peter Serafinowicz
Daisy- Catherine Tate
Jordan- Jo Brand
The Light- Benedict Cumberbatch wrapped in fairy lights

The whole bloody thing is impossible to cast.

I agree , but I don't see Mara conveying that.
I want to maybe say Michelle Williams because I really liked the way she played Marilyn.

This I would see.

Like Opera Punks?

I'm worried this trend will end with me referring to my brother as 'Opera Hunk' , because that's so very wrong.

Who's the poor bastard who has to eat the pie he gets made into?

Strange. This film seems designed to tick me off by checking every box of things I hate.

I read it. I liked it.

Not Rooney Mara. I really dislike her over-acting.
I actually can see no problems with Mulligan there.

THIS! THIS! THIS!

I found Moulin Rouge to be technically amazing and nice to watch, but a trifling useless film.
It's like a feature length music video with nothing beneath it giving it meaning, just noise and light.
