This is precisely why I read this episode as bleak and not "hopeful."
This is precisely why I read this episode as bleak and not "hopeful."
I'm 42, almost 43, so 2002 seems very much like recent history to me. Seeing it portrayed as a "past" one can visit with a certain amount of nostalgia seriously saddened me.
YES, this! And you missed the key point … cavorting to 80s music FOREVER. This was the key line of the episode … when Kelly says something to the effect of "you're here forever and that isn't even a concept we can grasp…." Kelly's initial refusal to go with her lover to this eternal place was borne from, I believe,…
This episode must have cost the producers a small fortune in music rights.
I am in the throes of an unbelievable electron cycle!
I teared up at the end of this episode. Found it extraordinarily moving. Is that weird?
Oh but that Wolf Alice tune. So good!
Sleigh Bells gotten weird?! The two tracks I've heard from the upcoming album are the opposite of weird, in my opinion. Fairly straight-forward rockers.
Sadie! I love Speedy Ortiz and I love this new Sadie solo track. Also, I met her at a festival in the Spring of 2015 and she's a delight. We talked about our mutual hero worship of Doug Martsch.
What annoys me about The Conjuring is that (i) it paints these f'ing shysters as authentic ghost hunters (or whatever) "in real life" and (ii) said shysters apparently profit from it. These folks are shameless. They made a career out of taking advantage of (and profiting from) the grief of people in real suffering.
I loved it as a teen because it's relentlessly paced, gross-out scary at times, and the vision of hell is perfectly realized. But yeah, I always liked it as a "this is way better than it should be" horror movie. But if you're telling folks that have never seen it that it's some sort of horror classic … well, be…
The Dawn of the Dead remake is fantastic.
I have seen, and I really like, most of the movies discussed in the comments thus far. But Pontypool? UGH. I hated that movie. And McHattie is f'ing annoying as hell. Torture.
I'm the husband in this relationship (not alexorella's husband … but you get it). Ostensibly hated it … watched it … secretly loved it … and now I can't wait for this.
I'm just going to say it: this looks joyous!
Part 5 is a classic 80s horror cheat. Straight-up Scooby Doo style resolution to the mystery.
I stopped two seasons ago and never looked back. It's a steaming garbage pile.
First Billy Bush, and now Ronald? Come ON
ditto
Haha "murderbros." Perfect. But your question is a good one. As I watched the MIB execute an entire town of hostiles, I couldn't help but wonder why this seemed to come as a surprise to the folks in charge. Wouldn't this happen, like, ALL THE TIME?! Rich murderbros just going to town with the fucking and the…
