Monster is their last truly good album, held up by the strength of the non-singles (the last 3 in particular: You, Circus Envy, and Let Me In), and making up for Strange Currencies and Bang and Blame.

Go pick up "Monster" and "New Adventures in Hi Fi " on eBay or in a bargain bin. It'll be worth your $3.

If the band had continued on the path they were on with "Around the Sun," Steven, your original piece would have seemed prescient. I didn't even bother ripping much of "Up" or "Reveal" to my computer. Thankfully the band pulled out of the nosedive.

The three albums that followed New Adventures really worked to sully the band's legacy. Each release brought with it hope and then crushing disappointment. I cherish a few of the songs written in that period, and will go to the mat for "Parakeet" and "Worst Joke Ever" for reasons that I can't even fully
