Yeah, there were some parts of Amon's back story that could've matched together better. The one thing that was consistent was Tarrlock's bloodbending being on a lower level than his father's/brother's. While still a powerful bender, he never was able to reach the 'psychic' bending; he still had to retain the hand

I'm actually rooting for Tenzin to have a airbending  (great?) niece/nephew next season. Would be an interesting story line and an excuse for Kya/Bumi airtime. And it'd be nice for Pema to know she doesn't have the entire weight of airbender re-population on her uterus.

Agreed. I was kind of hoping Amon would be who he said he was. Or had scarred himself for a full-commitment type thing. It's a little disappointing that non-benders' gripes were swept under the rug, or that they weren't explored more.

I'm less annoyed with the convenience of spirit bending, but rather that it seems to lessen the mature themes they tried to impart the series with in comparison to ATLA. For instance, you could still have the 'spirits trump all' if Korra had to activate the avatar state for the other three bending abilities, if just

True, just throwing it out there for possible vindication later. And it's probably waaaaay too influenced by the fact that I just re-watched Samurai Champloo. But I will say, Bumi's non-bender status leaves a nice big opportunity for him to have some crazy, non-orthodox sword fighting style.

I think part of it was that the knowledge of lightning technique seemed to be limited to the Fire Nation Royal Family, leaving only incredibly powerful fire benders access to this technique. Maybe there's a comparison with metal bending, with its power being 'watered down' as more average benders learn it.

Sidenote: I'm calling that Bumi's character was in some part influenced by Mugen from Samurai Champloo, between the hair, the cues about his personality and that huge Mugen poster I saw somewhere in the pictures of the Korra HQ at Nick.

During that scene in the arena gym, I wondered why Amon didn't find her immediately, given that a big part of being a bloodbender is to 'feel' water you can't see.

Yeah, Korra's newfound spiritbending would've reversed that. However, if I got to throw all of my finale-wishes in there, de-bending permanence for Mako could have yielded some awesome story lines for the second season. Such a situation would cause Bolin to really step up and we might get to see their sibling
