He choreographed his own dance in "From This Moment On" - it's amazing to see that brilliant choreography light up what is kind of a dull movie.

Honestly, even though if Fosse had lived we might've gotten a few more musicals/films out of him, his artistic legacy was definitely secured by dying so young. His last two stage works were a revival of Sweet Charity and the flop Big Deal (which apparently had some amazing staging, but saddled to an unworkable show.)

Spike Lee directed Mike Tyson's one-man show on Broadway. I don't believe he's done any other stage work.

I also don't think Mendes' film work is anything to write home about either. Skyfall is probably his best direction so far.

I think the series is richer and deeper, but the production values of the movie really add so much to the ideas and world of the film.

I think my love of Abigail Spencer came out of Burning Love. She's fantastic in that.

Fascinating. I certainly didn't think the movie was torture porn, but it did seem to be saying that torture was sometimes useful, even if it is morally reprehensible. I wouldn't have said that the movie is "horrified" by the actions of the characters in it. But like you said, it's a Rorschach test.

I didn't grow up in Michigan, but I lived there through high school and college. I've never been to the UP, it's true, but I've never seen cliffs like that on lakes in Michigan. Are there really huge cliffs on lakes like that up north?

I looked forward to watching it every week. I stopped watching Graceland months ago, and although I like The Bridge, I usually would rather watch Camp first.

I wouldn't go quite as far as you, but I agree that the screenplay was incredibly stilted and the lines sounded as if the actors were saying direct translations from a foreign language.
