Agreed.

His films are effective. That is undeniable. And are therefore required viewing. Unless you're a wuss.

I don't get it. Are you saying one of those filmmakers doesn't belong? That Zombie can't draw inspiration from great filmmakers? What?

I'm not familiar with Dowd. I'll give him a chance.

No, there really isn't anything I like that I'd want Oswalt involved in.

Whereas your mother is every bit a John Goodman.

That narration is so out of place. Even the Coens admit it was added because they just wanted to put Elliot in one of their movies.

Because The Dude is no Michael Caine.

So you're saying that Friedkin's goal for the first half of his film was for the audience to groan with how poorly written the dialogue is and to come close to walking out.

This.

The guy is in charge of a ship that does nothing but serve as a giant greenhouse and he doesn't know plants need light? That was a hurdle suspension of disbelief couldn't get over.

Well, that was one thing about the guy; I disagreed with him a lot and felt he would dislike a film for completely arbitrary reasons, but I never felt like his reactions to movies were anything but honest. A lot of current online critics seem to sway their opinions in accordance to where the schwag comes from.

I couldn't even finish it. It's one joke spread out for six minutes too long.

As @persia2:disqus says, it's just an extension of war films' "last mission before I get to go home" cliche. It's not good writing. The second half saves it.

Yeah. The second half is great. Wish I'd said that.

I'm pretty sure they just used the comic as the storyboard for this episode. Not that I'm complaining, but I remember feeling like this was a rerun the first time I'd seen it. I wish I could have experienced them the other way around.

The second half of To Live and Die in LA is great. The first half has a partner get killed… and he was ONLY TWO DAYS AWAY FROM RETIREMENT! Hackwork.

O'Neal has Tobias' old gig?

Because it is literally impossible to avoid it if someone is also a big fan of movies. It gets thrown in as "movie news" all the time. This site too is not above doing articles about Lindsay Lohan or Charlie Sheen.

Excellent work. Now CC Rabin with this info.
