Grrrr! Rocky HORROR!
I used to work as a janitor in a movie theater, and had to clean up after the midnight showing of Rocky Horror twice a week. Toast, rice….and other items that I won't mention. Needless to say…..I hate that movie.

Jimmy Cliff was warming up for Fela, as a bonus. I actually had tickets to see Fela a couple of years before that tour but Ronald Reagan wouldn't let him into the country. Grrr! Then when I moved to Chicago, Fela was playing down the block but I was too pathetically poor to buy a ticket. I tried collecting cans and…
Yeah, I saw Solomon Burke a couple of times. What a voice! He had a 20 piece band, too. I also have to mention the first time I saw Screaming Jay Hawkins….what a great show! It caused two women to rip off their shirts. No wonder the guy had so many kids. Link Wray, Dick Dale, The original Ramones, Fear, Earl Scruggs,…
Great Live Shows
I've seen James Brown, Muddy Waters, Iggy and the Stooges, and Fela. Easily some of the best shows I've seen in concert. I'd guess that Howlin' Wolf would have to be seen live to truly appreciate. If I could go back in time…..
I remember from my Telecommunications classes in college that Lucy and Desi Arnaz are hugely influential. Not only did they develop the 3 camera style of shooting a sitcom, they also insisted that they own the masters. They practically created syndicated tv. Not bad for a conga player and a comedian.
I never watched "The Honeymooners" as a kid, but that show is great. Jackie Gleason IS funny. The show's humor has aged pretty well.
Not necessarily the 90's….but you know, if you look at something that was funny in the 50's…..let's say "I Love Lucy"…..it was probably hilarious in it's day. Now? It's cute and has some funny bits. Let's look at Eddie Murphy in the 80's. He's the same comedian. Why is he no longer popular? I was playing cards with my…
Gilda Radner WAS funny in the 70's. You can't look back with a post 90's outlook and expect something from the 70's to be funny (well, polyester suits are funny, but….).
I think they were just listening to Led Zep: "in the darkest depths of Mordor I met a girl so fair". Fair skin, I'm sure that's what he meant.
I'd do penelope cruz before I did anne hathaway. and I'd do salma hayek before I did anne hathaway. I would, hoewever, get to anne hathaway third.
he spends most of his time beating off or working on his novel?
How does ZMF feel about Wahlberg's underwear ads? Do they "own" as well?
How about the two Sonny Boy Williamsons playing a live concert duel for the right to use the name? (my bet is on Sonny Boy 2).
Why don't they just take all his stuff and sell it? That's what they did to Willie Nelson. Doesn't Snipes have any good stuff? Stuff that they can sell, I mean.
thanks for posting that interview. I heard that the Captain was coaxed to play harmonica on a track for one of his sidemen's solo albums in the mid 2000's. I don't remember which sideman (might have been Gary Lucas), and I haven't heard the track….but there's always hope!
And if we could ressurect the great Bluesmen: Howlin Wolf, Charlie Patton, Skip James, and Robert Wilkins. And Blind Willie Johnson. And the Original Carter Family.
More Captain Beefheart!
one last album with the original Magic Band! Hell, even a blues covers album would be great. Not sure the Captain is physically able, though.
We need more
El Borbah! Seriously, If I was interviewing Charles Burns, I'd ask "Will We ever see more El Borbah? and his Frog Punch?"
yeah, that's one sexy frog
beeez!
They need to hire Macauley Culkin to get stung to death in this film. It could be a running gag…..when is he going to get stung to death?
