I wonder if the F is actually the more gentlemanly score?  An F is a tip of the hat, a recognition that a truly remarkably, memorably bad thing has been produced.  There may be something there for fans of awful movies to appreciate.  A D-, on the other hand, seems more like a dismissal.

Personally I'm a big fan of London Fields, which has Keith Talent in a similar-sounding role.  He's such a caricature though that he's hard to take seriously as social commentary- if anything it's probably more a comment on the narrator's fears about the idle poor.
