Huh… what did you get that from?  The only tactical discussion I recall was Tyrion saying Stannis would go for the Mud Gate, and the fact that the only landings and fighting we saw were right in front of that gate seemed to confirm that.

Did I?  Where?  Pretty sure I've always liked it… maybe I was feeling fickle?

Goddammit, I haven't read an Afgham post in ages, and my reaction's still the same.  I can't agree with the thoroughly critical tone because I enjoy the show too much… but the main point is true.  Nothing much has happened.  Still, though, this episode was spectacular.

"McGee wanted more scenes like that". I think you, and a lot of people here, are misinterpreting.  He likes that this episode was concentrated.  He doesn't like the way the season as a whole has skipped about.  True, that's a criticism of the season rather than the episode- but I'm pretty sure that's the point he was

You're asking that reviews specifically written for people who haven't read the books, from the perspective of people who haven't read the books, be graded to reflect how well the books have been adapted?

I think this is dead right.  Mind you, I did enjoy the battle scenes as well, but the build-up and the awesome HUGE EXPLOSION were better.

But… that's acting like geeks, not acting like hipsters.

The way the attack seemed to rest on one rowing-boat battering ram carried by a bunch of dudes did make it seem kind of small.  Probably inevitable, but still…
