I too love the honour and unexpected depth shown in this scene, and repsect reaching across species,cultural boundaries and the gulf of a war and a guard/prisoner dynamic to find a shared (for want of a better word) 'Humanity'…

With Lwaxana, I see it as more of the Optimist/Pessimist dichotomy: In our universe she is nearly redeemed by her sensitivity and maternal nature; whereas in the Mirror Universe her constant overbearing, suffocating mothering is nearly redeemed by the gonzo poor taste her psychotic stalking and reductive, misogynic
