I actually disagree with Moore's point about Canada - the low gun crime yet high number of guns per capita is the exception rather than the rule. Why it works there I don't know, but most other countries with low gun crime also have very few guns. The solution seems obvious to me.

so hang on, are you trying to say an English band was critical of an American president and no-one went ape shit?? where the fuck was the boycott of English muffins??

Road Movie is my favourite ever concert film. The Monster tour was REM at it's best.

roboplegic wrong-cock.
off his mash on ecstasy pipes.

Chronic Town only has 2 songs I like to play repeatedly - 1,000,000 and Carnival Of Sorts - whereas Murmur has nary a weak link (although We Walk tends to get skipped a lot).

Harborcoat
7 Chinese Brothers
Letter Never Sent
(Don't Go Back To) Rockville
are all awesome

I met Michael Stipe once at Heathrow airport - also chatted to REM's manager Bertis Downs. It still remains one of my proudest moments that I had the guts to go over and say hello rather than regret not doing for the rest of my life.

also - just to add to the debate - New Adventures was definitely the last great REM album. I find pretty much everything up to that point to be essential. After NAIHF there were moments of greatness but as yet not enough to compile a full album.
My opinion on the best post-Berry numbers:
Living Well's The Best Revenge
M

Monster was the first REM album I really got into thanks to Whats The Frequency Kenneth and it still holds a special place in my heart. I think it took balls to release what is just a straight up rock record after the mega-popularity of the quieter, atmospheric albums that preceeded it.

Never tell me the odds

I told my wife her vagina is like a goldmine - cavernous and dusty.

Ziggy + pet duck + pet duck alcohol poisoning = awesome

perhaps they were horrified at the expense to the taxpayer of replacing that glass pane.

I thought Carcetti's accent was always suspicious but liked him overall. Most distracting was his clothes - the guy always seemed to have shirt sleeves that were too long making him look like an overgrown schoolboy. Was that supposed to be the point? I always thought he was supposed to be a slick politician - you

@Captain Ron Mexico

actually the "p" is silent, so it is pronounced "wned"

you're the wrong man in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Loaded Yoghurtrifle

plastic titties might not be "real" titties but I'll be damned if they aren't titties all the same.
