That really did look unbelievably bad. I watch screeners (I don't have DirecTV) so I'm always scared to slam stuff like that for fear that I'm watching a pre-air version and it'll look better when it actually airs. I guess not!

Eh, I don't buy this. Of course the case was a stage for Patty and Ellen to work out their stuff, but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been a more interesting case. The Patty-Ellen stuff wasn't any less strong last season, but the High Star case was far more compelling, so the season was stronger overall.

I totally agree with you about the nuances in both Ellen and Patty…I don't see the former as purely heroic or the latter as purely villainous. But in terms of how the audience views Patty, and what would be viewed as an appropriate punishment for her characters misdeeds, Damages is unique in so much as while Patty is…

Thanks for reading! Season four is strong, and I've grown to think really highly of it. This season had its issues, but delivered a few really solid episodes.

Um…what season of Breaking Bad are you up to?

Good points. Patty's dreams are another reason I'll be annoyed if the object is for this to be the official account of events…the dreams would have been a complete waste of time if Patty is revealed to be uninvolved after all.

I got it, and that makes perfect sense, but there's a point at which plot twists go from being exhilarating to exhausting. This veered pretty close for me.

It sort of made me want to do the same, but then I didn't feel like there was much point. I do remember that Patty explicitly said that she told Pete to arrange Ellen's murder while she was confessing, and that's most of what I'm basing my understand of the facts on. (As is Ellen.)

I totally get all this. I just feel like, considering how fast and loose this show plays with the facts, there are some things that should be canonical, such that even if Patty is bluffing I'm kind of annoyed by the idea even as I enjoyed the execution. Your point about adding something like a smirk from Patty is a…

I think the dream sequences are utilized way too often, and the fact that this has been the case from the beginning doesn't make it any better.

I used to REALLY hate the way anything computer-related is portrayed in TV and movies. But it's something they get right so infrequently, you just have to let it go for your own sanity.
