FM
The Slits' "FM" was the debut song played (on The Ho Show, perfect that) when my college radio station went on the air. Not my favorite, but quite apropos.

I'm quite excited about seeing the live shows. I saw Hicks at the Rant in E-minor taping (it remains a high point of my life that his affectionate mocking of my friends and I made it to the album) and while the ferocious anger was definitely there, he also was pleased to be performing in front of an appreciative

Assless (and all chaps are assless), Mohindrance (reference!) was mocking Darlton's supposed attitude about the Lost wrap-up, not you. Geez that sentence would be impossible to parse 10 years ago.

Ludicrous -> actually funny. Thanks.

My thanks go out to the numerous commentors who recommended this show months back on some thread I cannot now recall. I jumped in the deep end and never looked back (what a terrible mixed metaphor). Now I'm busily converting my friends.

I also will be Finn for Halloween. Everybody change your avatar picture to your Finn costume! Although it is far from a scary costume, I will be wearing it at the Colbert/Stewart march/rally in DC.

Surprised that no one has yet mentioned the actor playing Qateb, Scott Evans (brother of Chris Evans). I like to think they cast him for his Midwestern farmboy good looks since they didn't have him speak much or even interact with anyone.

Out of morbid curiosity I watched an episode. It was actually quite sweet the way Danza really wants to engage with the kids - he cops to having been a poor, unmotivated student himself in a "don't make the same mistake I did" moment - but also so so naive. Still, he never came off as a desperate, gotta-get-back-on-TV

I wasn't aware anything but Season 1 was on DVD so I hustled over to Netflix to find that only 1 and 7 (the Survivor season) are available. Older seasons used to air on cable but I don't see that either right now. The only outright awful season is the Family edition one, the other ones can be frustrating due to

Has Prison Wine become like the Velvet Underground? Not very many people were aware of his output at the time, but all of them became commentors? No wait, if true then they would be aping his style more. Huh. Maybe more like Captain Beefheart.

sarCCastro, the show has largely dispensed with casting Survivor-esque contestants I'd say because of long-time viewer backlash. I hated that casting too for the exact same reason as you. Over the last few seasons, the editors have tended to mock those kinds of attitudes among contestants. Revisit the show as it is

It should be noted that critical thinking does not (entirely) mean logic and the ability to question. Just to provide an example, I'm a nurse and for our profession critical thinking in part means putting data (patient appearance, patient statements, lab results, vital signs, telemetry, etc.) together to build a

Guggenheim is correct in saying that education is a huge issue. I was initially miffed that he seems (haven't seen it myself yet) to have left so many things out of the picture, but then this probably needs a 12-part series on PBS to really cover the necessary territory. Now I'm miffed that, despite saying that he

Appropos of nothing
Also, Netflix streaming have added Beakman's World and Tom Waits' Big Time. I *was* going to have a productive afternoon. At least I can still kind of clean my apartment with Beakman's World on in the background.

Amazing Race pedigree
I'll reserve judgment until it sees the light of day, out of respect for BvM's Amazing Race track record. Though his mostly ill-conceived changes to AR over the seasons have been an annoyance at best, a colossal failure (Family Edition anyone?) at worst.

And how about those, well let's me generous and call them homages to Chuck Jones in the bunny facial expressions? That's a man who's studying animation history.

Vulcan Video is a local reference to a gas company, not Star Trek. And they're well-curated selection allowed me to see many, many at-the-time out of print films and TV specials. Also, they're still a going concern as is I Love Video even in a town that went whole hog for Netflix early on. So what I'm saying here is

Oh Flaubert, I will now never get the hilariously stupid term "rectumtum" out of my head. So now I'm going to have to suppress an inappropriate grin whenever I'm giving a suppository to a patient.

Colorful figure is right
Definitely deserves a biography or two. The plane trip element makes me think he developed a blood clot during the flight which turned into a stroke once he got off the plane.
