Interesting that you noted that as I just commented above that I felt the music was sub-standard tonight and largely drained energy rather than adding it. I'm thinking back to pieces like Elinor and Ryan's contemp routine set to Stars "Your Ex-Lover is Dead" where the music and dance together was geometrically better

I'm with you pretty much the whole way Doc. This was a largely lackluster evening. I'd be worried, but these nights tend to happen at least once a season, it will get better.

Now I'm imagining a total fuck-you conspiracy where the artists rebel against a stupid challenge by creating an all-clown exhibit. But then it breaks down when they're far too into it to change course so instead of uniting in their clown art, they start snarking about how their "Totally-ridiculous-on-purpose clown

King Bastard thank you for the last two minutes of near-constant reading joy. If you're ever down Montrose way, I owe you a beer.

Yes congrats indeed, but really I just want Cookie Monster to keep posting as such because I will not tire of this gimmick.

Meth is everywhere in rural America (well, the big cities too but not as noticeably). It's such a terrible drug because it really does rot your brain. Permanent brain damage for anyone who does it longer term. Just depressing when I worked in rehab and ER.

Kent made my big gay heart ache. Hopefully Travis takes him under his wing. Less creepy than Adam or (shudder) Tyce.

Ballroom was electric (my lord Pasha flipping Anya around himself was something to look at eh?) but what a joy to see a good NapTab routine. It had a gimmick, but one that worked and featured Jose so that he didn't fade in comparison to the experienced dancers. Nicely constructed. On the other side of the gimmick

But don't you think it's going to be interesting to have someone with such high expectations who doesn't suffer fools gladly? She's not an all-around killjoy. When she loves a dancer, she says so. I like her in the mix.

I knew Melinda was going to make it based on her edit a couple episodes back. She probably won't go far but I need someone kinda weird to root for (bless you Elinor, you gave so much last season).

Let's not call Marcus' dish gross without having actually eaten it. The problem I had was that the judges seemed willing to give Marcus a pass on what the dish was *inspired* by. Had he done it traditional, he absolutely could have claimed "that's the way it's supposed to be you just don't know how to appreciate it."

This might come off as sad but the Stars Hollow thing is enough to get me to watch at least this episode. Oh please be true cause I will enjoy that so very much.

Speaking of glut, how about that preview for next week when the judges go to contestants houses to give them the "you're in!" news? Blargh. Insipid. They've toed the line in the past (and frequently gone over) with the glurgy sentimentality, but this is just too much. We start caring about the dancers because of their

I kinda want to see Rachel make it just so her and Ade can fuckin' go crazy throwing each other around the stage.

I checked Lala at midnight Central time and it was still up, two hours later shuttered. I'll miss it. It was a valuable service for previewing albums. 30 second samples are no way to check out an album.

I hope that "I was just staring at the frosting on your ass" enters the language as shorthand for "Oh no, sorry, I'm not really attracted to you despite my paying way too much attention to one or more of your physical attributes."

I took this piss-take on the viewer who really wants there to be something going on between them. More titillation, less farcical distance.

Sex and the City 2 review
You really should follow the link Donna provided, it's one of the best "I hated it and now I will peel the paint with my loathing" movie reviews I've ever read. Bravo Lindy West.

I started liking Rick more when I realized that his need for attention and getting teary when praised revealed a whole lot about his background and upbringing. He just need love people.

Winter's Bone is indeed fantastic. Mike's review (and Noel's previously) absolutely nail it.
