Great idea Josh! I'm in the same boat, drowning in thousands of CD's. Thanks for turning me on to Acetone, Adorable & Alkaline Trio! Looking forward to part 2!

Anybody as excited about the new Jayhawks as I am? The first album with their "classic post-Mark Olson lineup" in 13 years - 29 April release date.

Amen brother! Always look forward to new stuff from the fabulous Robbie Fulks!!

I was there too (not on acid) - What a great description of that sloppy and wonderful gig in Grant Park, Chicago! And I just saw them play an incredible gig 1.5 weeks ago in Amsterdam. So that means I was at "The Farewell Gig" '91 (available on a certain well-known streaming site by the way) and if this breakup holds

Ran into Steve on a rainy day in Amsterdam. I tried not to sound like an idiot when I told him how much his music has meant to me over the years. I concur on the 5 essentials and the added essentialness of 'I Feel Alright'.
Almost as essential:
The Low Highway
Townes
Jerusalem
The Mountain
Sidetracks (great odds & sods

As great as it was to be at that last gig in 1991 (wow - you can stream the whole gig, good sound too! http://www.chicagomag.com/C… ) One of the greatest shows of my life - the Mats at the Southern Illinois University Student Center Ballroom 1987, the Pleased to Meet Me tour. As a member the student's concert

Let's not forget that Buick MacKane is also the name of Alejandro Escovedo's ass-kicking side project of the '90s, who put out one of the decades great unknown classics "The Pawn Shop Years", on which Alejandro fulfills all of his Stooges fantasies (they even cover "Loose"). My ears are still ringing from seeing them

From “Whip-poor-will”: So all of you
folks in heaven not too busy ringing the bell/some of us down here ain't doing
very well/some of us with our windows open in the southern cross motel

Nicely said Texass, I'm with you. To paraphrase you, if you don't mind: It's only rock n' roll … but I like it.

Soooo sad. I'll treasure my memory of Magnolia Electric Co at Paradiso in Amsterdam 2009. Am I the only one who thinks the last Magnolia album Josephine is stunningly beautiful? Also the Will Johnson/Jason Molina record is great. Don't understand why those two albums are so underrated.
