Growing up reading Guitar Player and Guitar for the Practicing Musician, Mascis got plenty of praise for his guitar skills. Too much, even. (I think they even gave him a column, briefly.)
I don't think he was ever really what you might call a "bad-ass". It's admirable how he managed to become a giant celebrity with little discernible talent, but drinking and smoking on TV was hardly out of the ordinary in the 60s and 70s.

Transformers 2 could be okay. They need to up the ass-kicking quotient and downgrade the annoying teenage hyjinx. At any rate it HAS to be better than Star Trek Babies, goddam that movie fucking sucked.
I actually hold the rather unusual opinion that NBC's version of "The Office", while an adequate sitcom, is nowhere near as good as the BBC's version. Shocking, I know!
