I should have picked up on the Breaking Bad callback where Saul is trying to convince them to launder their money through a Nail Salon sooner, but it didn't dawn on me until tonight.

Yeah, but now we have to come up with new ones, because you never know when a mark might have seen the show.

So look harder. The late 90s didn't invent shitty music, boy bands, novelty music, teen pop, whiny frat boys, etc. When you say "not much going in the other direction", what you're saying is "I was too lazy to turn the radio off and find something else to listen to."

As far as discrepancies between "live" and "album" quality - though TMBG offers many juicy choices, I have to give the #1 slot to "No One Knows My Plan". The live version often inculdes the lyrics:

Even the singer from Bow Wow Wow can't make up her mind.

I never remember ever thinking "wow everything sucks" during the late 90s. It was more like "well the radio sucks" which I've thought during every single time period except that brief 1992 to 1994 era, and even then there was a lot of crap. A lot of times you would hear Smells Like Teen Spirit and Cannonball

Why do you keep responding to Thispeas30? He keeps calling everyone Nazis and um, well, I think he meant to go to 4chan and accidentally made it here. I'd say "no one tell him" but even his trolly insults aren't all that amusing.

How the heck are people getting the impression that the writing is the problem? They say flat out in their interviews they just don't have the resources to MAKE the scripts. The writing isn't the hard part.

Didn't Edlund write the one with the Scooby Doo gang as a variety of serial killers PLUS the origin of Venturestein?

There was some good shit late 90's - you just had to dig to find it. Local H Pack Up The Cats, Yo La Tengo and Sonic Youth did some of their best work. Tool. Garbage, Girls Against Boys, Triple Fast Action, Salt, The Geraldine Fibbers, Opinions of Green Day vary but they were decent on Insomniac and Nimrod, Flaming

Nah, listen to the man himself - his hits are actually his worst/more overrated and overproduced songs.

"A roster of villains who will be kept secret…"

The binge nature of this show did not serve the whole Karen/Matt relationship well - we get a great first kiss one episode, a great first date, then suddenly they have a quick fight and ignore each other for the rest of the series.

The 16 most scandalous Superhero wardrobe malfunctions! (#12 will shock you!)

Ugh… too many ninjas. I just want this show to be the wacky antics of Nelson, Murdock & Page by day with a bit of ass-kicking at night. I don't think pseudo-mystical blood magic wizard shit fits in with the street-level Hell's Kitchen stories very well. I know it's part of the character, but thanks to late 1980's

"I would have gone with you to the end, Frodo."

Live in Manila? As in "manila", the color of those boring office envelopes? Makes sense…

"BSG had the greatest disparity between it's best moments and it's worst moments of any show I've ever watched."

1) Lee Adama wins a major court case by crying like a bitch.
2) That boxing episode.
3) Who is the final Cylon? The most irritating character in the entire series! Ellen Tigh was the Counsellor Troi's mom of BSG. I hated everything about her. I was SO happy when she died, and then…

Yes they are, and they are worth reading as an adult too. Third through fifth grade all I did was read Lloyd Alexander and John Bellairs.
