What band was I in? Not even as big as tree, we were called 30 Seconds Over Tokyo. We started in the mid 90s rat scene with The Unseen, Ducky Boys, Dropkick Murphys, etc.

Having been in a hardcore/punk Band in Boston in the 90s and still feeling the reverberations of the 80s Boston scene I always kind of wished we were on the West coast, sensibilities wise. Boston hardcore seemed to be very caught up in the sports culture/xenophobia aspects of Boston, which was kind of off putting for…

Good old Chuck Stewart. That was a big deal around these parts.

One of my favorite sketches from this season is in the Coppola episode. It's a murder mystery sketch and the premise is that Coppola doesn't quite grasp how to direct a three camera television show so he's always got the camera on the wrong shot, so you miss all the reveals of who the murderer is. It's simple and…

I've been collecting original broadcasts of SNL for about 15 years and this one was always the hardest to see uncut. The opening had a sketch with all the new actors receiving drug tests, it was odd, and funny. The opening of the 86/87 season had Madonna apologizing for the previous season I believe (which is also cut…

I really really love that episode. I believe he brought Phil Hartman and John Paragon along with him to write for that particular episode and there are some great weird sketches in there. The very dumb, but funny sketch where Pee Wee Herman and Randy Quaid are talking in a locker room (after a racket ball game?) about…

I picked up a boot of Shelf Life about ten years ago and remembering liking it, but thinking it felt kind of unfinished or like it was missing something. I should probably give it another chance.

Anyone else picking up a Twin Peaks vibe from the Dream Warrior sequences? The floor in that sequence supported my homage theory.

I spent a lot of time in Waldenbook and B.Dalten booksellers growing up (we also had a Crown rip off called "Royal Discount Books" but that was not in a mall). They would special order horror/sci-fi books for me, which was nice (although they were not happy about doing it) and it was also one of my few sources for…

It was pretty downhill when I was there in 05. It was mostly empty, and what was there were the "I think they may be squatters" kind of stores. It still amazed me though because it was so bizarre, it's like a fall out shelter as mall.

I actually made a pilgrimage to Monroeville in the mid 00s specifically to go to the "Dawn of the Dead Mall." There was a lot that was the same, but I was surprised at how much of it felt like any of my local Boston area malls. It was cool to walk around a place I'd never been to, but knew exactly where everything was…
